IQBAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

Friday, November 13, 2015 - An inspirational and vibrant culture show, held here on Friday, highlighted the ideology of Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Muhammed Iqbal. The performance marked the 138th birth anniversary of the Allama Iqbal, being commemorated today nationwide. Iqbal is regarded as the Shair-e-Mashriq ( Poet of the East) and the Thinker of Pakistan, who envisioned the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims. Children of different ages from DPS schools and colleges participated in the Iqbal Day Celebrations programme arranged by Respected teachers have worked hard to make a glorious ceremony for the special occasion of Allama Iqbal to make the students understand the life and the personality of Iqbal. The kids presented skits, speeches and tableaus based on stories portraying Iqbal’s messages for the modification of the society. The lyrical, melodious poems from Iqbal’s poetry, presented by the children, included Kalam-e-Iqbal, Khudi ka Sir hai Nehan, Ya Rab Dil-e-Muslim ko, La phir Ik Bar, Lab pay aati hai Dua, Zamanay ke Andaz. The verses reflected on simple yet meaningful theme. Allama Iqbal is admired as an eminent poet by international scholars of literature, and is also a highly acclaimed “Muslimphilosophical thinker of modern times.” His poetry books include: Asrar-e-Khudi, Rumuz-i-Bekhudi, Payam-i-Mashriq and Zabur-i-Ajam. Amongst these his best known Urdu works are Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril, Zarb-i Kalim and a part of Armughan-e-Hijaz. Iqbal’s Urdu and Persian poetry which is the best embodiment of poetically mediated thought, precisely in the traditional continuity of Islamic literature is perhaps the finest flowering of wisdom poetry, or inspired poetry in the modern times.
